Hypo-thyroid

After going down the hypothyroid path a while back, I woke up yesterday feeling very run down. Pretty obvious, the room being too cold disallowed me from sleeping properly. Despite the body being supposed to ‘cool down’ while sleeping, in my case, where the body is in a detriment of metabolic resources, keeping warm is more important. I slept in thermals and socks last night, much more energy today. Waking temperature (measured under armpit for ~15 minutes with a digital thermometer) was 36 this morning. I guess this is an improvement. The idea of using NDT (naturally desiccated thyroid) is somewhat appealing, although not really keen to go down that path again at this point, sans appendix.

Nutrigenomics

Well it seems that just dosing on folate in the form of free range chicken liver isn’t the whole picture for MTHFR and related genes. I read Niacin can be used when there’s too much folate… I didn’t have any at the time and just had to ride a night feeling not so great.. Since then co-factor supplements etc have arrived. I feel just allowing them to do their job as described here.

Cancer

Just saw an ad for a University that said:

“Cancer should be scared…

We’ve got it in our sights and we’re coming after it”

…..
In the new paradigm it will be understood simply that ‘Sun Screen’ is carcinogenic, and cancer is a normal part of cell metabolism.. (just like mold and bacteria)

Nutrigenomics update

I have been really run down the last few days, waking up energized and ready for the day, knowing that around 90 mins after breakfast I will be facing an energy crash which will leave me lethargic, physically and mentally for the rest of the day. Although, usually late afternoon my energy will stabilize and I’ll be OK again. This morning was annoying as this happened, and I really wanted to have energy through the day. rice and roo, the most basic and wild forms of carb and protein calories I could find were basically to no avail. While not feeling ‘bad’ per se, I was certainly run down. I cooked up a little chicken liver, with no added sulfur foods for taste (onion/garlic), seems that has given me some good energy. This is awesome. Not as run down and mentally capable. I got the liver idea from the ATP podcast on MTHFR, which if I remember correctly mentioned that liver was the best source of folate. Folate (I think) being the missing output of folic acid from the MTHFR genes…
EDIT: more like a drug than just ‘capable’.. mental vibrancy

Ben Greenfield podcast: The Wildatarian Diet

Just stumbled onto this podcast, possibly one of the most important podcasts I’ve ever found for myself, covering

  • Sulfur metabolism ( I believe the liver is largely involved, which in Chinese medicine is related to anger…)
  • specifically why conventional animal farming methods are harmful to our health, as well as covering Glyphosate

Sulfur metabolism is something I don’t remember reading about in the Primal Blueprint, sure as hell have never heard it mentioned by an allopathic doc (in fact when I brought up histamine, an allopathic doc asked if I’d been speaking with a naturopath… classic). An integrative doc did test histamine and proceeded to diagnose undermethylation… but didn’t mention sulfur in the diet and the magnitude of it’s detriment…
I’m diving deeper into this podcast with these notes I’ve created – which I have further refined into specific concepts here.

ATP Podcast: Asthma

Went through this podcast and made notes:

https://atpscience.com/podcasts/episode-197-asthma-its-not-easy-being-wheezy/

Neutrophil: infection type reaction.

tumeric is helpful

Eosinophil: allergic inflamation.

Associated with asthma and ecesema
relates to mast cell degranulation
bioflavanoids/anti allergic herbs are helpful

Histamine is produced by mast cell degranulation, as a responmse to an allergen. Causes blood vessels in the lungs to become leaky to secrete mucous to get rid of the allergen. Causes flushing reactions: itchy nose, roof of mouth itchy.

Treatment

Perilla frutescens. 90% inhabition of mast cell degranulation. 4-5 leaves per day

bioflavanoids: quercetin, Rutin, luteolin (active in Perilla)

-These stabilise mast cells, lots of mast cell disorders, the solution is to make the mast cells tougher

Antihistamines: dry out the mucosa, which prevents O2 absorbtion, leading to bhroncial constriction. Not a good soltuion and creates reliance.

herb treatment helps educate the immune system to use different strategies to deal with the allergen.

Garlic stimulates the immune system while suppresing allergy

cranberry, cinnamon, pomegranite

Resilliance contains: francinsence, mhyrr, reishi

thyme: “really good antiseptic, very good anti-microbial.” – “If you get in the regular habit of using Thyme, it’ll sterilize a lot of these bad bugs and stop the infection in through the lungs.”

Fruits and vegetables

Vitamin D

Lemongrass ginger

Symptym relief:

Grindelia: beta agonist, like ventolin, makes heart race.

Elecampane: good for flegm in lower lungs

Exceaserbate/bad

Dairy, grains, gluten, colours

respiratory acidosis: Magnesium and Schisandra

enzymes and bitters

Gut test -> recommend digestive enzymes for undigested fats and proteins -> mention this on forum -> recommendation for bitters (yesterday). Today listen to random (latest) Ben Greenfield podcast. They mention this exact scenario and also recommend enzymes and bitters specifically these.

learning about bitters

hopefully I can feel full, not have hypoglycemic brain crashes throughout the day along with high percentage of the time feeling fatigued

Parasites… again

The parasite thing is interesting, because it’s so easy for me to be like ‘oh it’s all in my head’ and stop a protocol that may be working. After my recent success with ‘the zapper’ I even had a dream where – gross warning – I had a scab come off my knee and all this air came out, followed by these tiny black dots.. Then I saw a thin worm in my toe.. still in my body.. So that’s interesting! I had a couple days of feeling really good, although yesterday symptoms of hypoglycemia came back to an extent.

It’s interesting that I can rationalise this as being ‘in my head’ vs a physiological thing. This whole thing does tie into the power of belief and how powerful that is. For example if I eat gluten, I can be totally fine, although there have been times at work where I’ve eaten something with gluten and it has messed me up badly, after I’ve had fear about the possibility that I will have a reaction.. weird..!

I often eat a large amount of food, I guess a symptom of having a parasite/candida over growth etc is the feeling of never being full, and always needing to eat. The feeling of crashing an hour after eating is another annoying symptom.. With all this I stay quite lean.. although I do avoid refined carbs basically entirely.

This ties into a podcast I just started listening to: The ATP Project
Episode 172 – An Interview with Ken Ware – Neurophysics Therapy
